The River Star program recognizes businesses executing initiatives to reduce pollution and improve wildlife habitat in the Elizabeth River watershed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conservation efforts in the development of The Retreat at Harbor Pointe include oyster castles in the river to promote natural cleansing of the river, elimination of invasive plants on the shoreline, addition of salt-tolerant native reeds and plants, and rip-rap to stabilize the shoreline and prevent erosion.
