{"id":23680,"date":"2026-06-10T17:03:36","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T21:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lawsoncompanies.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=23680"},"modified":"2026-06-11T17:09:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T21:09:16","slug":"lawson-family-foundation-awards-four-college-scholarships-to-outstanding-virginia-students","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/lawsoncompanies.com\/news\/lawson-family-foundation-awards-four-college-scholarships-to-outstanding-virginia-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawson Family Foundation Awards Four College Scholarships to Outstanding Virginia Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HIGHLIGHTS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Lawson Family Foundation awarded four full scholarships to dependent children of Lawson employees and community residents this year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2026 marks the fourth year of Foundation scholarship awards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The foundation is working to add vocational scholarship awards in the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Norfolk, VA \u2013 June 10, 2025 \u2013 The Lawson Family Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 college scholarships, awarding four scholarships to exceptional graduating high school seniors across Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation traditionally awards two scholarships annually, one to a dependent child of a Lawson employee and one to a dependent child of a resident living in a Lawson community. Due to the number of exceptional applicants this year, the Board elected to double its impact by awarding four scholarships in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s scholarship recipients are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ezra Locke, Jr.<\/strong> of Suffolk, is a dedicated deacon at his church and accomplished track &amp; field and cross-country student-athlete. Ezra plans to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Riley Foster<\/strong> of Chesapeake, is an active member of Young Life and plans to major in Psychology with a minor in Occupational Therapy. Her goal is to earn a master\u2019s degree in Pediatric Occupational Therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Madison Vesey<\/strong> of Norfolk, served as President of her high school Key Club and will pursue a degree in Nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Camilla Maldonado Vigil<\/strong> of Woodbridge, is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National STEM Honor Society. She plans to study Biochemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2026 awards mark the fourth year of the Lawson Family Foundation Scholarship Program. Including this year\u2019s recipients, the Foundation has awarded ten scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation is also working to further expand opportunities with the future addition of vocational scholarships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur Mom and Dad instilled in us the importance of education and always encouraged us to pursue higher education, and to never stop learning,\u201d said Steve Lawson, Lawson Family Foundation Board Member. \u201cI am, therefore, extraordinarily proud that the Foundation\u2019s first project was to establish scholarship funds to provide full scholarships to young people in our community. On behalf of my entire family, we are both thrilled and honored to pass along the incredible opportunity of education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lawson Family Foundation was established to strengthen communities and expand opportunities for individuals and families throughout the regions Lawson serves.
